Mindset
The goal is to
- enhance & enable all that happens on stage
- remove stumbling blocks for the congregation
- and strive for clarity, quality & collaboration
Being a sound technician has levels. As comfort with the room, worship team, and the tech improves, so does the depth in which you operate.
- Everything is just Volume! Use other's feedback and listen for what you can't hear.
- Building Confidence. Starting to understand how the room & audience affects sound.
- Everything is just Volume, continued! Creating acoustic space based on what instruments, vocalists, and specific songs are part of service. Knows the motivations behind adjustments being made.

Troubleshooting
- I can't hear X in my in ears
- Make sure the wireless pack or wired adapter volume is at 80-90 %
- Select the mixbus and check on X channel's level
- Select the mixbus and check its master level
- If wireless, resync with the sending unit (open the battery door, aim at the sending unit, press sync, the receiver should flash)
- The mics are fizzing in and out
- Are they being held too close to the bottom of the mic?
- Are the batteries charged up?
- Did the frequency on the mic get changed? (need to resync with receiver)
Random Notes
- On the soundboard, we can save "scenes" which are like video game checkpoints. We can return to these settings anytime!
- Each week at the start of Worship practice (and rarely rehearsal) we reset the board to the "Sunday Morning Default" scene.
- This keeps us consistent and encourages good mixing hygiene.
